Synopsis

Abel Tesfaye & Lily-Rose Depp star in this scandalous HBO drama The Idol
HBO series The Idol is a riveting Hollywood romantic-drama that explores the themes of sex and pop-culture. The show is created by award-winning singer Abel The Weeknd Tesfaye, Euphoria showrunner Sam Levinson, and Reza Fahim. The show was initially set to be directed by Amy Seitz, however she left the project midway through due to creative differences.
Writer and executive producer Sam Levinson took on the role of directing the series.
Actor Lily-Rose Depp stars as the rising pop-icon Joceyln, she is joined by singer and executive producer The Weeknd who takes on the role of Tedros, her volatile love interest. Several notable actors and singers such as Jennie from the K-Pop band Blackpink, actor David Levy from the popular sitcom Schitts Creek, and singer Troye Sivan join the extended cast of the series. This show also marks one of actor Anne Heche’s final performances before her tragic car accident.
The show's soundtrack, The Idol Vol. 1, includes songs by the Weeknd himself and supporting cast member Mike Dean, among others.
